Patna : The number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients getting cured is racing towards 11 lakh mark in India reaching 10,94,374 at 8 am on August 1, 2020, an increase of 36,569 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases by 5,29,271. The number of active cases in India stands at 5,65,103.
The COVID-19 death toll in the country, on the other hand, has jumped to 36,511 with 764 new deaths being reported from different paets of the country during last 24 hours including 265 from Maharashtra, 97 from Tamilnadu, 84 from Karnataka, 68 from Andhra Pradesh, 45 from West Bengal, 43 from UP, 27 from Delhi, and 23 from Gujarat.
The Coronavirus death toll break-up in India is : Maharashtra (14,994), Delhi (3,963), Tamilnadu (3,935), Gujarat (2,441), Karnataka (2,314), Uttar Pradesh (1,630), West Bengal (1,581), Andhra Pradesh ( 1,349), Madhya Pradesh (867), Rajasthan (674), Telengana (519), Haryana (421), Punjab (386), J&K (377), Bihar (296), Odisha (177), Jharkhand (106), Assam (98), Uttarakhand (80), Kerala (73), Chhattisgarh (53), Puducherry (49), Goa (45), Tripura (21), Chandigarh (15), Himachal Pradesh (14), Ladakh (7), Meghalaya (5), Nagaland (5), Andaman & Nicobar ( 5), Arunachal Pradesh (3), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (1).
As far COVID patients getting cured goes, in Maharashtra 2,56,158 patients have been cured till date followed by 1,83,956 in Tamilnadu, 1,20,930 in Delhi, 63,864 in Andhra Pradesh, 48,863 in UP, 49,788 in Karnataka, 48,374 in West Bengal, 33,358 in Bihar, 30,357 in Assam, and 28,227 in Haryana.
Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan, chaired the 19th meeting of the high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on COVID-19 through a video-conference on July 31, 2020. He stated that India has achieved the milestone of more than 1 million recoveries which has taken the Recovery Rate to 64.54%. This shows that the active cases under medical supervision are only 33.27% or approximately 1/3rd of total positive cases. India’s Case Fatality Rate is also progressively reducing and currently stands at 2.18%, one of the lowest globally.
Dr Vardhan said, “Out of the total Active Cases, only 0.28% patients are on Ventilators, 1.61% Patients needed ICU support, and 2.32% are on Oxygen support.” On the rapidly expanding testing capacity of India, the Union Health Minister highlighted that as on date, through a network of 1,331 labs (with 911- Government labs and 420 private labs), India conducted a record 6,42,588 tests in the last 24 hours. This has taken the cumulative tests to more than 1.88 crore. In terms of healthcare logistics, cumulatively 268.25 lakh N95 masks, 120.40 lakh PPEs, and 1083.77 lakh HCQ tablets have been distributed to States/UTs and Central Institutions, according to a PIB release.
