New Delhi : A total of 3,57,630 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,30,70,365 at 8 am on May 22, 2021, exceeding the Daily New Cases for the ninth consecutive day that too by a huge margin  from 87.25% on May 21, 2021.of 1,00,331. Altogether 2,57,299 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded till date to 2,62,89,290 on May 22, down from 2,59,551 cases reported on May 21, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 87.76% in the country on May 22 from 87.25% on May 21, 2021.

Active cases count was 29,23,400 in India on May 22, a drop of 1,04,525 cases in last 24 hours in last 24 hours and accounted for 11.12% of the total Covid-19 cases ( 2,62,89,290) reported in the country till date. With more than 20.66 lakh tests conducted in the last 24 hours, India has again set a new record of highest tests conducted in a day. This is also the fourth successive day of more than 20 lakh tests in India. Cumulatively, 20,66,285 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country.  The country has tested 32,64,84,155 samples so far. Meanwhile, a total of 19,33,72,81 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 14,58,895 beneficiaries on May 21, 2021.

The Covid-19 death toll climbed to 2,95,525 in India on May 22, 2021, with 4,194 new deaths being reported in the country in last 24 hours. The 4,194 new deaths include 1,263 in Maharashtra, 467 in Tamilnadu, 353 in Karnataka,  252 in Delhi, 172 in Uttar Pradesh, 172 in Punjab, 159 in West Bengal, 142 in Kerala, 129 in Rajasthan, 116 in Uttarakhand, 112 in Haryana,  104 in Andhra Pradesh, 98 in Bihar, 96 in Chhattisgarh, 81 in Assam, 79 in Madhya Pradesh, 65 in Gujarat, 57 in Himachal Pradesh, 46 in Jharkhand, 43 in J&K, 30 in Goa, and 25 in Meghalaya. India had recorded 4,209 new deaths on May 21, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
