New Delhi : Altogether 3,57,295 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours, down from 3,69,077 May 20, 2021, taking the tally to 2,27,12,735 in the country at 8 am on May 21, 2021. In sharp contrast, India logged 2,59,551 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 2,76,110 the previous day, taking the tally of cases to 2,60,31,991 in the country on May 21, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 87.25% in India on May 21 from 86.74% on May 20, 2021.
The count of Active cases was 30,27,925 in India on May 21, 2021, from 31,29,878 cases on May 20,2021, a huge drop of 1,01,953 cases in last 24 hours. The country has tested 32,44,17,870 so far including 20,61,683 samples on May 20, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 19,18,79,503 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 18,82,754 beneficiaries on May 20, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The Covid-19 death toll climbed to 2,91,331 in India on May 21, 2021, with 4,209 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours, up from 3,875 new death deaths the previous day. The 4,209 new deaths included 984 in Maharashtra, 548 in Karnataka, 397 in Tamilnadu, 236 in Uttar Pradesh, 233 in Delhi, 191 in Punjab, 162 in West Bengal, 159 in Uttarakhand, 129 in Haryana, 128 in Kerala, 127 in Rajasthan, 114 in Andhra Pradesh, 113 in Chhattisgarh, 98 in Bihar, 88 in Madhya Pradesh, 74 in Assam, 67 in J&K, 66 in Himachal Pradesh, 64 in Gujarat, 60 in Jharkhand, 44 in Goa, and 11 in Manipur. India had recorded 3,874 new deaths on May 20, 2021. The case fatality rate stood at 1.12% in the country on May 21, 2021.
