New Delhi : Single day recoveries of Covid-19 patients continues to outnumber the new cases in India. A total of 3,55,102 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in India taking the tally to 2,34,25, 467 at 8 am on May 23, 2021. On the hand, a total of 2,40,842 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,65,30,132 cases in the country on May 23, 2021, a drop of 16,457 cases in last 24 hours. The country also recorded 3,741 new Covid deaths in last 24 hours. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 88.30 on May 23 from 87.76% on May 22, 2021.
The Active cases count was 28,05,399 in the country on May 23, 2021, a drop of 1,18,001 cases cases in last 24 hours, and accounted for 10.57% of the total Covid cases ( 2,65,30,132) recorded till date. India has tested 32,86,07,937 samples so far including 21,23,782 samples on May 22, 2021, a new record of highest tests conducted in a single day. Meanwhile, a total of 19,50,04,184 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 16,04,542 beneficiaries on May 22, 2021.
Covid-19 death toll rose to 2,99,266 in India on May 23, 2021, with 3,741 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours. The new deaths included 682 in Maharashtra, 451 in Karnataka, 448 in Tamilnadu, 218 in Uttar Pradesh, 201 in Punjab, 182 in Delhi, 176 in Kerala, 154 in West Bengal, 134 in Uttarakhand, 118 in Andhra Pradesh, 115 in Rajasthan, 103 in Bihar, 103 in Chhattisgarh, 98 in Haryana, 89 in Madhya Pradesh, 79 in Assam, 55 in Himachal Pradesh, 54 in Gujarat, 48 in J&K, 41 in Jharkhand, 39 in Goa, 21 in Meghalaya, and 13 in Manipur. India had recorded 4,194 new deaths on May 22, 2021. The case fatality rate stands at 1.13% in in India, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
