New Delhi : A total of 3,02,544 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours, a drop from 3,55,102  the day before, taking the tally to 2,37,28,011 in the country at 8 am on May 24, 2021.  On the other hand, the country logged 2,22,315 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 2,40,842 cases the previous day, taking the count to 2,67,52,447 cases on May 24, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients rose to 88.69% in India on May 24 from 88.30% on May 23, 2021.

Active cases dropped to 27,20,716 in India on May 24, 2021, from 28,05,399 on May 23, 2021, a drop of 84,683  cases in last 24 hours. The country has tested 33,05,36,064 samples so far including 19,28,127 samples on May 23, 2021. Meanwhile, altogether 19,60,51,962  people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 9,42,722 beneficiaries on May 23, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure. India crossed a significant landmark in its fight against Covid-19 pandemic on May 24, 2021. The country has administered more than 1 crore (1,06,21,235) Vaccine Doses to 18-44 age group under Phase-3 of Vaccination Drive.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 death toll jumped to 3,03,720 in India on May 24, 2021, as 4,454 new deaths were recorded in the country in last 24 hours, up from 3,741 new deaths on May 23, 2021. The 4,454 new deaths included 1,320 in Maharashtra, 624 in Karnataka, 422 in Tamilnadu, 231 in Uttar Pradesh, 192 in Punjab, 189 in Delhi, 188 in Kerala, 156 in West Bengal, 107 in Bihar, 97 in Haryana, 92 in Chhattisgarh, 72 in Assam, 71 in Uttarakhand, 59 in Himachal Pradesh, 53 in Gujarat, 51 in J&K, 42 in Goa, 37 in Jharkhand, and 24 in Meghalaya. The case fatality rate climbed to 1.14% in India on May 24, 2021.
