Muzaffarpur : Three suspected cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), all children, were admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, on April 4, 2018, evening, in serious condition. They are undergoing treatment.

Of the three children, one belongs to Sheohar district and one to Meenapur in Muzaffarpur district in North Bihar. The third  child, a five year old girl, belongs to village Malangwa in Sarlahi district in Nepal. All the three children are suffering from high fever and convulsion. One child had died last week at Muzaffarpur due to AES.

Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh has directed the Block Development Officer (BDO) and Circle Officer (CO) of all the 16 blocks of the district to keep ambulance ready to rush  suspected cases of AES to the hospital. The DM has also asked the Civil Surgeon to submit daily report to him in his regard. The DM has also alerted the doctors in this connection asking them to ready round the clock.

A special ward has been created at SKMCH for AES patients. A special ward has also been set up at private Kejriwal Hospital, Muzaffarpur.
