Ara : Three children drowned in river Sone at different places in Bhojpur district on April 14, 2018, while taking a dip in the river along with their family members. Bodies of two children were fished out. Police brought the bodies to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A team of NDRF has been pressed into operation to find out the third child.
Thousands of men, women and children thronged the banks of rivers at different places in Bhojpur district since morning on April 14 to take a holy dip.
Kanhaiya Kumar, 8, of village Perhap under Sahar police station had gone to river Sone along with his grandmother Dauloto Devi and two sisters Kavita Kumari and Soni Kumari, daughters of Mungelal Prasad, at village Khaira under Sahar police station. His grandmother slipped due the fast current of the river. Seeing her drowning, Kanhaiya and his sisters tried to save her but they themselves fell into the river though the villagers saved the grandmother and the sisters but Kanhaiya was swept away in the fast current of the river. Later, the villagers fished out his body.
In another incident, a six year old girl Rachana Kumari, daughter of Jai Prakash Yadav of village Rupban under Bihia police station, who had come to her maternal grandfather Bijendra Yadav, son of Muni Lal Rai at Suraudha Colony under Koelwar police station, drowned in river Sone at Guraiya Ghat near Sheo temple under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district on April 14 when she was taking a dip along with other family members. A team of NDRF has been pressed into served but the girl is yet to be located.
Yet in another incident, a 12 year old boy drowned in the river at village Demha under Udwantnagar police station while taking a dip on April 14. The villagers fished out his body.
