New Delhi : A total of 28,903 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,14,38,734 cases at 8 am on March 17, 2021, indicating an alarming situation. On the other hand, 17,741 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,10,45,284 in the country on March 17, 2021.

The active cases (2,34,406) accounted for 2.05% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,14,38,734) recorded so far in the country as on March 17, 2021, an increase of 10,974 cases in last 24 hours. Of the 1,14,38,734 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in the country, altogether 1,10,45,284 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) dropping to 96.56% on March 17, 2021.

India has tested 22,92,49,784 samples so far including 9,69,021 samoples on March 16, 2021. Meanwhile, 3,50,64,536 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 21,17,104 beneficiaries on March 16, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,59,044 in India on March 17, 2021, with 188 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 87 in Maharashtra, 38 in Punjab, 15 in Kerala, 12 in Chhattisgarh, 6 in Karnataka, 5 in Tamilnadu, 4 in Goa, 3 in Telengana, 2 in Haryana, 2 in West Bengal, 2 in Uttar Pradesh, 2 in Gujarat, 2 in J&K, 1 in Delhi, 1 in Bihar, 1 in Jharkhand, 1 in Madhya Pradesh, and 1 in Rajasthan. India had recorded 131 new deaths on March 16, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
