Siwan: Altogether 270 bottles of liquor, which was being smuggled from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh (UP) into Bihar, was seized from areas falling under the jurisdictions of two different police stations of  Siwan district on Friday.

In the first incident, a Mairwan police team intercepted a bike and recovered 120 bottles of liquor from two persons riding the motorcycle, who were arrested. Mairwan police station SHO Manoj Kumar said that the arrest was made from Maidania on Rampur-Mairwan road. He said that the liquor bottles were being brought from UP to Siwan.

In another incident, a Guthani police team seized 150 bottles of liquor from a four-wheeler at Mehrauna Check-post on  Bihar-UP border on Friday. Guthani police station SHO Nirbhai Kumar said that the liquor bottles were recovered from a Tata magic entering Siwan from UP side. Three persons have been arrested in this connection, he added.
