Nawada: Rajauli police intercepted a convoy of three cars and seized 262 bottles (750 ml) of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) in the wee hours on Thursday. The people of the area converged at the police station just to catch a glimpse of the “elixir” now banished from their lives ever since complete prohibition was imposed in the state on April 5, 2016. ago. Police had a tough time dipersing away the onlookers.

Nawada SP Vikas Burman as well as the Rajauli SHO Sanjay Gupta said the cavalcade, which was to deliver the  consignment to different illegal vendors, was intercepted near the Integrated Check Post at Rajauli. While the Hyundai car offenders, who have been arrested, have been identified as Prince Kumar, son of Jitendra Singh, and Rahul Kumar, son of Suryadeo Prasad Yadav of Ramnagar area of Nawada town, the others are Yogesh Kumar, son of Navin Kumar of Sultanpur village under Danapur PS, and Ramesh Kumar, son of Satyanarayan Ram of Kurji under Digha PS (Patna)  travelling in an Indigo car. Chiku Singh, son of Raj Kumar Singh of village Baikunthpur under Rajapakar PS in Vaishali district, and Ramchandra Mahto of Nibha colony of Bokaro city PS. The last pair was astride a Celero car. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
