New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 6, 2018, expressed his grief and extended his condolences on loss of lives due to an accident near Ranghola in Gujarat the same day. The PM, according to a PIB release, said, “My condolences to all those who lost their loved ones due to an accident near Ranghola in Gujarat. The accident was extremely unfortunate and anguishing. May those who have been injured recover at the earliest.”

Twentysix persons including 10 women and 5 children of a wedding party were killed when their truck fell into a pit from a bridge near village Ranghola in Bhavnagar district in Gujarat on March 6 morning.The truck was carrying around 60 persons from village Anida,  who were going to attend a wedding ceremony in Botad district, according to police sources.

The truck fell into a pit when its driver tried to overtake another vehicle on the bridge killing 25 persons on the spot while one died at a hospital during treatment. Botad district is over 133km away from Ahmedabad.
