Rafael Nadal, Dimitrov enter semifinals of Monte Carlo Masters

Patna : World Number 1 and ten times champion Rafael Nadal 31, Spain, entered the semi-finals of ATP Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament inflicting a crushing defeat on World Number 7 Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, in the quarterfinals on April 20, 2018. Top seed Nadal defeated fifth seed Thiem 6-0, 6-2 in a brutal display of aggressive tennis.

Thiem had defeated former World Number 1 and winner of 12 Grand Slam titles Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16. Nadal now leads Dominic Thiem 6-2 head to head. Two time defending champion Nadal needs to retain his Monte Carlo title to stay World Number 1.

World Number 5 Grigor Dimitrov, 26, Bulgaria, also entered the semi-finals defeating World Number 10 David Goffin, 27, Belgium, 6-4, 7-6, in the quarterfinals on April 20. Nadal and Dimitrov will clash in the semi-finals.
