Patna : The Covid-19 cases recorded so far in Bihar climbed to 2,53,652 on January 2, 2021, afternoon, as 397 more persons including 219 from Patna and 23 from Nawada, tested positive to the pandemic on January 1, 2021.

According to State Health Department data, 17 persons from Muzaffarpur, 16 each from Begusarai and Nalanda, 14 from Kaimur, 10 from Saran, 9 each from Darbhanga and Purnia, 7 from Vaishali, 6 from Jehanabad, and 5 each from Madhubani and Sitamarhi, also tested positive to Covid-19 on Janjuary 1, 2021.

Of the 2,53,652 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in Bihar, a total of 2,47,579 patients have been declared cured including 490 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.61%. The number of active cases in Bihar was 4,669 on January 2, 2021. Bihar has tested 1,85,26,245 samples so far including 94,080 samples on January 1, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,403 in  Bihar on January 2, 2021, with 3 new deaths being recorded in the state in last 24 hours including 1 each in Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Arwal.

Meanwhile, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey on January 2, 2021, visited Shastrinagar Urban Primary Health Centre, Patna,and Phulwarisharif Community Health Centre, Patna,  to review the Dry Run of Covid-19 vaccination. The dry run was also conducted at Bettiah, headquarters of West Champaran District.
