New Delhi : A total of 24,712 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,01,23,778 at 8 am on December 24, 2020. On the other hand, 29,791 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally to 96,93,173 on December 24, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (2,83,849) by a huge margin of 94,09,324.

The number of active cases in the country was 2.80% of the total cases on December 24, 2020, a drop of 5,391 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,01,23,778 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 96,93,173 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 95.75%. The country has tested 16,53,08,366 samples so far including 10,39,645 samples on December 23, 2020.

The Covid-19 pandemic toll climbed to 1,46,756 on December 24, 2020, with 312 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 93 in Maharashtra, 34 in West Bengal, 22 in Kerala, 21 in Uttar Pradesh, 18 in Delhi, 15 in Chhattisgarh, 13 in Punjab, 12 in Tamilnadu, 12 in Madhya Pradesh, 9 in Karnataka, 8 in Uttarakhand, 8 in Rajasthan, 6 in Gujarat, 6 in Bihar, 5 in Haryana, 5 in Himachal Pradesh, and 3 in Andhra Pradesh. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.45% in the country on December 24, 2020.  India had recorded 333  new deaths on December 23, 2020.

COVID-19 death toll in India on December 24, 2020,  was : Maharashtra (48,969), Tamilnadu (12,024), Karnataka (12,038), Delhi (10,347), Andhra Pradesh (7,085), Uttar Pradesh (8,245), West Bengal (9,473), Gujarat (4,254), Madhya Pradesh (3,514), Rajasthan (2,642),  Punjab (5,243), Telengana (1,524), J&K (1,853), Haryana (2,847), Bihar (1,368), Odisha (1,846), Jharkhand (1,014), Assam (1,029), Uttarakhand (1,447), Kerala (2,892), Chhattisgarh (3,227), Puducherry (629), Goa (727), Tripura (384), Chandigarh (313), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (894), Ladakh (125), Manipur (338), Nagaland (77), Meghalaya (135), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (125), Mizoram (8), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2).
