New Delhi : A total of 24,492 new  Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,14,09,831 cases in the country on March 16, 2021. On the other hand, 20,191 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,10,27,543 on March 16, 2021.

The active cases (2,23,432) accounted for 1.96% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,14,09,831) recorded in India on March 16, 2021, an increase of 4,170 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested 22,82,80,763 samples so far including 8,73,350 samples on March 15, 2021. Meanwhile, 3,29,47,432 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 30,39,394 beneficiaries on March 15, 2021. Of the 1,14,09,831 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,10,27,543 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) 96.65% on March 16, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,58,856 in India on March 16, 2021, with 131 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 48 in Maharashtra, 27 in Punjab, 11 in Kerala, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 7 in Karnataka, 4 in Himachal Pradesh, 4 in Tamilnadu, 3 in Delhi, 3 in West Bebgal, 3 in Madhya Pradesh, 3 in Haryana, 2 in Uttar Pradesh, 1 in Gujarat, 1 in Bihar, 1 in Andhra Pradesh, and 1 in Assam. India had recorded 118 new deaths on March 15, 2021.
