New Delhi : A total of 24,010 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far to 99,56,557 cases at 8 am on December 17, 2020. In sharp contrast, 33,291 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 94,89,740 on December 17, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (3,22,366) by a gigantic margin of 91,67,374. The number of active cases was 3.24% of the total cases on December 17, 2020, a drop of 9,636 cases in last 24 hours.
Of the 99,56,557 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in the country, altogether 94,89,740 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 95.31% on December 17, 2020. India has tested 15,78,05,240 samples so far including 11,58,960 samples on December 16, 2020.
The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,44,451 on December 17, 2020, with 355 new deaths being recorded in last 24 hours including 95 from Maharashtra, 46 from West Bengal, 32 from Delhi, 27 from Kerala, 18 from Punjab, 15 from Uttar Pradesh, 14 from Haryana, 12 from Tamilnadu, 12 from Himachal Pradesh, 10 from Gujarat, 10 from Chhattisgarh, 10 from Rajasthan, 8 from Madhya Pradesh, 6 from Karnataka, 3 from Andhra Pradesh, and 3 from Bihar. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.45% in the country on December 17, 2020. India had recorded 387 new deaths on December 16, 2020.
