Raxaul: East Champaran DM Shirshat Kapil Ashok, after reviewing the security measures on Indo-Nepal border at Raxaul, has asked the
SDMs of Raxaul and Sikarahna Sub-Divisions to install 24 CCTVs at all entries and exit points on border under their respective jurisdiction to check the influx of people from Nepal. This border was sealed on March 22, 2020, from either sides and SSB Jawans guarding the border are alert.
East Champaran District in North Bihar shares porous Indo-Nepal border in a stretch of 104 km. According to an official report, 13 Nepalese have been quarantined at a centre at Raxaul, about 50 km away from Motihari, headquarters of the district. They had reached Raxaul on March 25, 2020, on way to Nepal but the border was sealed.They are being provided food, accommodation, and medicine by the administration. Fifty-one migrant Indian labourers were quarantined at Kathmandu during lockdown of which 44 tested negative for COVID-19 negative and were sent back to Raxaul. Only 3 quarantined Indians tested positive at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, Nepal.
