New Delhi : A total of 21,822 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far to 1,02,66,674 at 8 am n December 31, 2020. On the other hand, 26,139 Covid-19 patient were declared cured/discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally to 98,60,280 on December 31, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases ( 2,57,656) by a stupendous margin of 96,02,624. The number of active cases was only 2.51% of the total cases on December 31, 2020, a drop of 4,616 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,02,66,674 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 98,60,280 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.04%. India has tested 17,20,49,274 samples so far including 11,27,244 samples on December 30, 2020.

The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,48,738 in India on December 31, 2020, with 299 new dearhs being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 90 in Maharashtra, 28 in West Bengal, 28 in Kerala, 21 in Delhi, 17 in Tamilnadu, 14 in Chhattisgarh, 13 in Madhya Pradesh, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 9 in Uttarakhand, 9 in Punjab, 7 in Karnataka, 7 in Haryana, 7 in Gujarat, 6 in Himachal Pradesh, 6 in Rajasthan, 4 in Andhra Pradesh, 4 in Bihar, and 2 in Jharkhand. The Case Fatality Rate remained pegged at 1.45% in the country on December 31, 2020.  India had recorded 286 new deaths on December 30, 2020.
