Saharsa : Twenty-one students received Gold Medals, 49 scholars were awarded Ph.D degrees, and 234 students were awarded PG degrees at the 3rd Convocation of Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University (BNMU), Madhepura, on December 17, 2019.

As  Governor cum Chancellor of State Universities Fagu Chauhan could not make it to the Convocation function held at Madhepura, BNMU VC Dr Awadh Kishore Rai read out his message to the student and teachers. Congratulating those receiving degrees at the Convocation, Governor Chauhan asked them to use their knowledge for the development of the society as well as the country. The Governor, in his message, said that the BNMU has been providing education to the students of deprived section of the society since 1992. The Governor lauded the university for publishing ‘BNMU Samvad’ on the pattern of ‘Raj Bhavan Samvad’.

Commissioner, Kosi Division, K Senthil Kumar, said that the students receiving the degrees will now have to decide their future course of action on their own and prove their mettle in a competitive atmosphere. He said that gross enrolment ratio had increased in Bihar but it had to be increased further.

Special Guest and former VC, NEHU, Dr A N Rai, a former Director of NAAC, appreciated the progress of BNMU and hoped  that it would continue to better itself. Registrar, BNMU, Kapildev Prasad, conducted the programme. Earlier, a ‘Shobha Yatra’ was taken out from Guest House, Madhepura, to Convocation venue.
