Muzaffarpur: District Education Officer (DEO), Muzaffarpur, S N Kanth, On November 7, 2016, issued orders for dismissal of 209 school teachers allegedly appointed on the basis of fake certificates stating they had cleared the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET). DEO Kanth has issued order for lodging FIRs against them.

The DEO admitted said that over one thousand teachers appointed on the basis of fake TET certificates were posted in different schools in Muzaffarpur district. He, however, said the government had initiated process to take action against them. Principal Secretary, Education department, has fixed timeframe for completing the inquiry and action against such teachers. The DEO said so far 335 teachers appointed on the basis of fake TET certificates had been identified in the district. He said the probe was going on in all 16 blocks of the district. DM Dharmendra Singh has issued necessary instructions to the DEO in this regard.

DEO Kanth on November 8 said that 145 such teachers had been identified under Meenapur block and 64 under Bandra block in the district. SSP, Muzaffarpur, Vivek Kumar, had earlier issued order for arrest of a former BEO and a former Block development officer (BDO) of the district.
