New Delhi : A total of 20,021 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,02,07,871 cases in the country at 8 am on December 28, 2020. In contrast, 21,131 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally to 97,82,669 on December 28, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases ( 2,77,301) by a massive margin of 95,05,368. The number of active cases was just 2.72% of the total cases on December 28, 2020, a drop of 1,389 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,02,07,871 cases recorded so far in the country, altogether 97,82,669 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 95.83%. India has tested 16,88,18,054 samples so far including 7,15,397 samples on December 27, 2020.

The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,47,901 in India on December 28, 2020, with 279 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 66 in Maharashtra, 29 in West Bengal, 25 in Kerala, 18 in Punjab, 18 in Chhattisgarh, 18 in Madhya Pradesh, 16 in Delhi, 13 in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Karnataka, 10 in Tamilnadu, 9 in Haryana, 7 in Uttarakhand, 7 in Gujarat, 6 in Himachal Pradesh, 6 in Rajasthan, 4 in Bihar, 2 in Andhra Pradesh, and 1 in Jharkhand. The Case Fatality Rate remained pegged at 1.45% in the country on December 28, 2020. India had recorded 279 new deaths on December 27, 2020, too.
