Road communication between Harnatard and Ramnagar block headquarters to Gobarahiya Done and Karmahiya Done panchayats under Ramnagar block located in Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) has been snapped following heavy rains. The traffic on NH 28 (b) from Madanpur to Paniyahawa, which leads to Uttar Pradesh via Bagaha- Chhitauni road bridge, has also been paralysed due to several potholes and countless ditches on the road.

Many wildlife species of VTR have deserted their dens and fleeing towards adjoining villages due to as water of hilly rivers have entered their dens. They are damaging the crops. Hilly rivers like Haraha, Masan, Kosil, Manor Harbora, Oria ,Pandayee, Balora, Manihari and others are also in spate depositing sand in the cultivated land in large area. Sugarcane, vegetable and paddy seedlings planted over hundreds acres of land have been destroyed, said Deepnarain Prasad, President of Tharu Welfare Federation (TWF).

The water river Pandayee is posing serious threat to village Shrirampur village, hardly 1 km away from Bhitiharwa Ashram under Narakatiaganj sub- division. The residents of village located along the rivers Gandak and Masan are feeling apprehensive and were heard recalling their experience of August 2017 when a devastating flood in  river Gandak had breached a Guide Bund built near village Shripatinagar under Piparasi block in the district and swept away several houses. The flood affected people had to take shelter at Chhitauni railway station and Dharmshala in UP. The breach in the GuideBund is yet to be plugged.
