200 students attend Inter-School Knowledge Convergence

Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : More than  200 students from two dozen schools  from 5 states —Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Bihar  and Jharkhand – gathered at Delhi Public  School (DPS) Bokaro to take part in a host of activities during the two-day mega event of the fourth edition of Shabd-National Inter-School Knowledge Convergence Meet that  concluded on April 10, 2018, evening.

The students participated in events like inter-school quiz, creative writing, visual art installation, short play, open class meet and multi-format debates. Some of the prominent schools which participated in the  event were B K Birla Centre for Education, Pune, Mayo College Girl’s School, Ajmer, B V Mandir, Nainital, Vidya Vihar Residential School, Purnia, Bihar,  DPS-Ranchi, Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi, ARS Public School, DAV Sector VI Bokaro, DPS-Gaya, DPS-Chas, DAV-Hazaribagh, DAV Public School, Sector-VI, Bokaro, MGM Higher Senior Secondary School, Holy Cross School  Railway Colony, Balidih,  Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Chas, Bokaro, and Bokaro Public School.

The event became momentous for all the schools from five states making it a confluence of young aspirants. The valedictory ceremony commenced with the welcoming of the Chief Guest Ashok Ganguly, former Chairman, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Guest of Honour Dr D  K Pandey, Principal, N C Jindal Public School, New Delhi.

In his address, Ganguly  made a special mention of the commendable contributions of DPS Bokaro in providing holistic education emphasising on six life-skills including ‘Mind your body’, ‘Mind your Food, ‘Mind your Sleep’, ‘Mind your Stress’, ‘‘Mind your Emotion’ and ‘Mind your Soul’. Suggesting that everyone can’t become an IITian, he remarked that one must choose his goal on the basis of his strength. Pandey, in his address,said that DPS Bokaro is not only one of the best schools of the country but also one of the top schools of the world.

Hemlata S. Mohan, Director & Principal, DPS, Bokaro, remarked that national events like Shabd play a pivotal role in grooming the children and promotes their expertise.

Nationally acclaimed  quiz master Parnab Mukherjee,  Knowledge Resource Curator, an eminent theatre personality and the convener of ‘Shabd’  conducted the highly acclaimed educational  conclave.
