Bagaha : Erosion by river Gandak has rendered about 50 families of village Bauktola under Piparasi block under Bagaha Sub- Division homeless in  last 15 days. A police post, established there, has also been inundated by the river. Fast erosion has also been reported from Virata Reta in Sisahi panchayat under Madhubani block and standing crops of sugarcane, paddy cross as well as vegetables on nearly hundred acres have been destroyed by the river.

Former Mukhiya of Sisahi panchayat Uma Yadav said that fast erosion by river Gandak is posing threat to very existence of village Virata. The residents of these villages including Ram Kripal Tola located between river Gandak river and Pipara-Piparasi Gandak Protection embankment, are feeling apprehensive. The only option to come out of these village is country boat.

Circle Officer (CO), Piparasi, Fahimuddin Ansari, who had visited Gandak diara  (riverine ) villages by country boat, said that erosion affected families would be rehabilitated only after the flood water recedes. He has sent report on the flood situation to the West Champaran district administration saying about 200 families rendered homeless due to ersion by Gandak under Piparasi block need immediate rehabilitation.
