Sitamarhi : Altogether twenty candidates are in fray for Sitamarhi parliamentary constituency (PC), which will go to polls in the fifth phase on May 6, 2019.

After scrutiny, three nominations were rejected on different grounds and on April 22, 2019, one candidate withdrew leaving twenty candidates to fight for the seat. After Dr Barun Kumar refused to fight election on JD(U) ticket, a four time BJP MLA and former minister Sunil Kumar ‘Pintu’ is now JD(U) candidate from here. He challenges former minister and former MP Arjun Rai, an RJD nominee from Mahagathabandhan belonging to Sharad Yadav group. The other key contenders are : AAP ‘Dr. Raghunath Kumar, BSP’s Zasim Ahmad, and independent candidate Madhav Chaudhary.
DM cum district election officer M Ramchandrudu said that the administration isĀ  geared up to hold free and fair election.
