2 undertrial prisoners escape from Prisoners’ Ward of Ara Sadar Hospital

Ara : Two undertrial prisoners of Ara jail escaped from the Prisoners’ Ward at Ara Sadar Hospital around midnight on May 28, 2019. They were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The two prisoners were identified as Munna Sonar of Anand Nagar locality under Ara Town police station and Vikas Kumar of village Gadhani under the same police station. They were arrested in connection with a murder case. An FIR has been lodged with Ara Town police station and police are conducting raids to arrest the two prisoners.

Superintendent, Ara Jail, Niranjan Pandit said that Munna Sonar had  tried to commit suicide inside Ara jail about a week ago and was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital. He was under depression, Pandit said.  Vikas Kumar had complained of some medical problem and was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital, he said. Both the prisoners were kept in Prisoners’ Ward at Ara Sadar Hospital for treatment under tight security but on May 28, 2019,midnight, both the prisoners escaped with manacles from the the ward, he added.
