Ara : Altogether 2.41 lakh persons including 33,000 in urban areas have been enrolled as beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat—Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) but only 25 persons have so far been issued golden cards.

Civil Surgeon (CS), Bhojpur, Dr Jagdish Singh said that PM Narendra Modi had launched the AB-PMJAY on September 27, 2018, ensuring medicare coverage up to Rs. 5 lakh per year to the persons enrolled under the scheme. The CS said the beneficiaries were selected and enrolled under the scheme as per the social, caste and economic census—2011 (SECC-2011).

Dr Prateek said that the majority of persons or families enrolled under the scheme are not aware that their names figure in the list of beneficiaries scheme and so golden cards has not been issued so far to them. He said that such persons should come to Sadar Hospital, Ara, with their ration cards and get the golden cards if their names figure in the list of beneficiaries. He said that the persons whose names are listed under the scheme will be entitled to treatment free of cost at any of government hospitals in the country. He said that the government is planning to enlist some private hospitals and clinics too that will also provide the service under the scheme.
