Sitamarhi : The first phase of Panchayat elections in Sitamarhi District in North Bihar ( second phase at state level) passed off peacefully on September 29, 2021, amidst Jitiya festival. The elections were held in Choraut and Nanpur blocks amid tight security arrangements. Sitamarhi DM Sunil Kumar Yadav and SP Har Kishore Rai visited several booths during the poll.
There are 17 Panchayats in Nanpur and 7 in Choraut. There are 1,84,789 voters in Nanpur and 55,199 in Choraut. A total of 100 booths were set up for Choraut and 237 for Nanpur. Altogether 3,635 candidates are in poll fray in the two blocks. The security arrangement were night in Naxal areas. There was enthusiasm among voters.and the weather was good too.
