New Delhi : India recorded 18,088 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,03,74,932 at 8 am on January 6, 2021. On the other hand, 21,314 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 99,97,272 on January 6, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases ( 2,27,546) by a massive margin of 97,69,726. The active cases accounted for just 2.19% of the total cases ( 1,03,74,932) on January 6, 2021, a drop of 3,490 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the  1,03,74,932 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 99,97,272 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.36%. India has tested 17,74,63,405 samples so far including 9,31,408 samples on January 5, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,50,114 in India on January 6,2021, with 264 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 64 in Maharashtra, 25 in Chhattisgarh, 24 in Kerala, 24 in West Bengal, 20 in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Madhya Pradesh, 12 in Delhi, 9 in Uttarakhand, 8 in Karnataka, 7 in Bihar, 6 in J&K, and 4 in Gujarat. India had recorded 201 new deaths on January 5, 2021.

COVID-19 death toll in India on January 6, 2021, was : Maharashtra (49,759), Tamilnadu (12,177), Karnataka (12,118), Delhi (10,609), Andhra Pradesh (7,122), Uttar Pradesh (8,433), West Bengal (9,841), Gujarat (4,325), Madhya Pradesh (3,662), Rajasthan (2,719),  Punjab (5,404), Telengana (1,556), J&K (1,897), Haryana (2,927), Bihar (1,415), Odisha (1,887), Jharkhand (1,038), Assam (1,057), Uttarakhand (1,544), Kerala (3,184), Chhattisgarh (3,437), Puducherry (635), Goa (744), Tripura (387), Chandigarh (322), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (948), Ladakh (127), Manipur (363), Nagaland (79), Meghalaya (141), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (129), Mizoram (8), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2).
