Muzaffarpur : Altogether 1,806 government schools under 16 blocks of Muzaffarpur district do not have plates ( Thali) as per the number of students to serve them hem Mid-day meal (MDM). Schools under Saraiya block of the district have the minimum number of plates. The MDM scheme was introduced 11 years back in 3,051 schools in the district but only 1,245 schools have enough plates. In 1,806 schools, MDM is served on leaf plates. Director, MDM, Harihar Prasad, has directed Programme Officers (POs) of all the districts to purchase steel plates for all the schools. For schools of Muzaffarpur district, Rs 1.98 crore has been released for purchase of steel plates for students from Standard 1 to Standard V and purchase has begun.
