Ara: Bhojpur police,  on a tip off, conducted raid at two closed industrial units at Giddha Industrial Area under Koelwar police station on Saturday evening and recovered 1,716 bottles of foreign liquor worth about Rs 9 lakh though the owners managed to escape from the scene. Police lodged an FIR with Koelwar police station against Satyendra Singh of Dhanbad in Jharkhad, owner of rice mill, and Babu Singh of Anishbad in Patna, owner of cold storage, under New Excise Act.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that he got information that liquor had been dumped at closed industrial units at Giddha under Koelwar police station. He immediately formed a police team under SHO, Koelwar police station, Sanjay Shankar. The police team conducted raids at a closed rise mill and a closed cold storage at Giddha Industrial area on Saturday evening and seized 1,716 bottles of foreign liquor kept in 123 cartons.

The SP said that the consignment was brought from Haryana in a truck and was kept in godown at Giddha Industrial area. He said that owners of these godwon had taken the land for godown from BIADA on lease for opening of rice mill and cold storage but these godowns were being used for keeping liquor.
