New Delhi : New Covid-19 cases outpaced the recoveries during last 24 hours in India  for the fourth consecutive day on February 28, 2021. A total of 16,752 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,10,96,731 cases at 8 am on Fevruary 28, 2021. On the other hand, only 11,718 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally to 1,07,75,169 on February 28, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases (1,64,511) by a huge margin of 1,06,10,658.

The active cases accounted for 1.48% of the total cases (1,10,96,731) in India on February 28, 2021, an increase of 4,921 cases in last 24 hours. Of the 1,10,96,731 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,07,75,169 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.10%. India has tested 21,62,31,106 samples so far including 7,95,723 samples on February 27, 2021. Menawhile, a total of 1,43,01,266 frontline workers have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 58,719 beneficiaries on February 27, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,57,051 in India on February 28, 2021, with 113 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 51 in Maharashtra, 18 in Kerala, 11 in Punjab, 6 in Karnataka, 5 in Chhattisgarh, 5 in Tamilnadu, 3 in Delhi, 3 in West Bengal, 3 in Haryana, 1 in Bihar, 1 in Gujarat, and 1 in Jharkhand. India had recorded 113 new Deaths on February 27, 2021, too.

The Covid-19 toll in India on February 28, 2021,  was : Maharashtra (52,092), Tamilnadu (12,493), Karnataka (12,326), Delhi (10,909), Andhra Pradesh (7,169), Uttar Pradesh (8,725), West Bengal (10,266), Gujarat (4,409), Madhya Pradesh (3,863), Rajasthan (2,787), Punjab (5,825), Telengana (1,634), J&K (1,956), Haryana (3,047), Bihar (1,541), Odisha (1,915), Jharkhand (1,088), Assam (1,092), Uttarakhand (1,692), Kerala (4,182), Chhattisgarh (3,833), Puducherry (668), Goa (794), Tripura (391), Chandigarh (351), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (995), Ladakh (130), Manipur (373), Nagaland (91), Meghalaya (148), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (135), Mizoram (10), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2).
