New Delhi : Recoveries outpaced new Covid-19 cases in India by a margin of 1,208 in last 24 hours after a gap of several days. A total of 16,596 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in India taking the tally to 1,08,99,394 at 8 am on March 9, 2021. On the other hand, a total of 15,388 new Covid-19 cases were  recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,12,44,786 on March 9, 2021.

The active cases ( 1,87,462) accounted for 1.67% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,12,44,786) on March 9, 2021, a drop of 1,285 cases in last 24 hours.  India has tested 22,27,16,796 samples so far including 7,48,525 samples on March 8, 2021.  Meanwhile, 2,30,08,733 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far in India including 20,19,723 beneficiaries on March 8, 2021.

Of the 1,12,44,786 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,08,99,394 patients have been declared cured so far with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.93%.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,57,930 in India on March 9, 2021, with 77 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 22 from Maharashtra, 14 from Punjab, 12 from Kerala, 5 from Karnataka, 3 from Himachal Pradesh, 3 from Tamilnadu, 3 from Delhi, 2 from Andhra Pradesh, 2 from West Bengal, 2 from Haryana, 1 from Chhattisgarh, 1 from Gujarat, 1 from Madhya Pradesh, 1 from Uttar Pradesh, and 1 from Bihar. The case fatality rate dropped to 1.40% in India on March 9, 2021. India had recorded 97 new deaths on March 8, 2021.
