New Delhi : The decline in detection of new Covid-19 cases in India continues. Only 16,504 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,03,40,469 at 8 am on January 4, 2021. On the other hand, 19,557 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally to 99,46,867 on January 4, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases (2,43,953) by a massive margin of 97,02,914. The active cases accounted for only 2.36% of the total cases on January 4, 2021, a drop of 3,267 cases in last 24 hours.
Of the 1,03,40,469 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 99,46,867 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.19%. The country has tested 17,56,35,761 samples so far including 7,35,978 samples on January 3, 2021.
The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,49,649 on January 4, 2021, with 214 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 35 in Maharashtra, 26 in West Bengal, 25 in Kerala, 16 in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Madhya Pradesh, 14 in Chhattisgarh, 14 in Delhi, 12 in Punjab, 10 in Tamilnadu, 8 in Karnagtaka, 6 in Mimachal Pradesh,5 in Rajasthan, 5 in Uttarakhand, 4 in Gujarat, 4 in Andhra Pradesh, 4 in Andhra Pradesh, 2 in Haryana, 2 in Bihar, and 1 in Jharkhand. The Case Fatality Rate remained pegged at 1.45% in the country on January 4, 2021. India had recorded 217 new deaths on January 3, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry data.
