New Delhi : New Covid-19 cases outpaced the recoveries in last 24 hours for the third successive day on February 27, 2021. A total of 16,488 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,10,79,979 cases in the country at 8 am on February 27. In sharp contrast, a total of 12,771 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in India taking the tally of recoveries to 1,07,63,451 in the country on February 27, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases ( 1,59,590) by a massive margin of 1,06,03,861.
The active cases accounted for 1.44% of the total Covid-19 cases ( 1,10,79,979) on February 27, 2021, an increase of 3,604 cases in last 24 hours. Of the 1,10,79,979 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,07,63,451 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.14%. India has 21,54,35,383 samples so far including 7,73,918 samples on February 26, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 1,42,42,547 frontline workers have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 7,69,904 beneficiaries on February 26, 2021.
The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,56,938 in India on February 27, 2021, with 113 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 48 in Maharashtra, 15 in Punjab, 14 in Kerala, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 5 in Tamilnadu, 4 in Karnataka, 3 in Madhya Pradesh, 3 in West Bengal, 2 in Uttar Pradesh, 1 in Delhi, 1 in Andhra Pradesh, 1 in Bihar, and 1 in Haryana. India had recorded 120 new deaths on February 26, 2021.
