New Delhi : India, in a significant development, recorded only 16,432 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,02,24,303 at 8 am on December 29, 2020. In sharp contrast, 24,900 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally to 98,07, 569 on December 29, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (2,68,581) by a colossal margin of 95,38,988.The number of active cases was 2.63% of the total cases in India on December 29, 2020, a drop of 8,720 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the  1,02,24,303 Covid-19 cases recorded in India so far, altogether 98,07, 569 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 95.92%. India has tested 16,98,01,749 samples so far including 9,83,695 samples on December 28, 2020.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,48,153 in India on December 29, 2020, with 252 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 50 in Maharashtra, 27 in West Bengal, 26 in Chhattisgarh, 21 in Delhi, 16 in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Kerala, 13 in Punjab, 11 in Taamilnadu, 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 8 in Haryana, 8 in Karnataka, 7 in Rajasthan, 6 in Uttarakhand, 6 in Gujarat, 4 in Andhra Pradesh, 3 in Bihar, and 1 in Jharkhand. The Case Fatality Rate remained pegged at 1.45% in the country on December 29, 2020. India had recorded 279 new deaths on December 28, 2020.
