Motihari : Altogether 11,315 migrants workers stranded in different  states due to the nationwide lockdown returned to East Champaran
district in North Bihar during last 7 days by six Shramik Special trains and have been quarantined at 138 centres at block and panchayat level in the district and provided dignity kits. All of them are being provided meal twice with 200ml milk and breakfast at these 138 quarantine centres by the district administration.

DM, East Champaran, Shirshat Kapil Ashok, talking to this reporter said that these poor workers  have become jobless due the lockdown  and it is our priority to  create work opportunities  for them now. The teams of district officials are conducting survey of skill of these workers and preparing data  of the same to provide  them suitable jobs, the DM said and added that 1,549 workers mostly young staying at different quarantine camps have been provided MANREGA job cards.  According to official sources, 99,000 new ration-cards were issued to poor families in last one fortnight.

DM Shirshat Kapil Ashok said hat Rs 115 crore had been put into the  bank accounts of 1,15,000 labourers by the government  till date in the district.  The labourers and poor were also given free 5kg rice and 1 kg pulse, he said.
