New Delhi : A total of 15,223 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,06,10,883 cases at 8 am on January 21, 2021. On the other hand, 19,965 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally to 1,02,65,706 on January 21, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases (1,92,308) by a stupendous margin of 1,00,73,398. The active cases accounted for just 1.81% of the total cases ( 1,06,10,883) on January 21, 2021, a drop of 4,893 cases in the country in last 24 hours.
Of the 1,06,10,883 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,02,65,706 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.75%. India has tested 18,93,47,782 samples so far including 7,80,835 samples on January 20, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,52,869 in India on January 21, 2021, with 151 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 59 in Maharashtra, 18 in Kerala, 10 in Chhattisgarh, 10 in Delhi, 9 in Tamilnadu, 7 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Uttar Pradesh, 6 in West Bengal, 4 in Haryana, 4 in Punjab, 4 in Karnataka, 3 in Bihar, 2 in Gujarat, and 2 in Rajasthan. India had recorded 162 new deaths on January 20, 2021.
