New Delhi: A total of 15,144 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,05,57,985 at am on January 17, 2021. In contrast, 17,170 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/ discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,01,96,885 exceeding the number of active cases (2,08,826) by a massive margin of 99,88,059 on January 17, 2021. The active cases accounted for only 1.98 % of the total cases (1,05,57,985) in the country on January 17, 2021, a drop of 2,207 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,05,57,985 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in the country, altogether 1,01,96,885 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.58%. India has tested 18,65,44,868 samples so far including 7,79,377 samples on January 16, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,52,274 in India on January 17, 2021, with 181 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 52 in Mahaarashtra, 27 in Kerala, 15 in West Bengal, 14 in Punjab, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 6 in Tamilnadu, 6 in Delhi, 5 in Madhya Pradesh, 4 in Karnataka, 4 in Haryana, 4 in Bihar, 3 in Gujarat, 2 in Rajasthan, and 1 in Jharkhand. India had recorded 175 new deaths on January 16, 2021.
