Ara : Over 150 Corona Warriors deputed at different Quarantine Centres in Bhojpur District and also assigned the task of door to door survey are performing their duty risking their lives as they have not been provided with masks, gloves, sanitisers, and safety kits.
The district administration has set up five quarantine centres and Tax collectors, Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC), Aaganwadi Sevikas, and Aaganwadi Sahaikas, CRP members and other persons are deputed there to feed the persons under quarantine there and they are also assigned the task of door to door survey of people for collecting information regarding their health and travel history.
The Tax Collectors and Aaganwad Sevikas are deputed in urban areas while the Aaganbadi Sahayikas, Asha, and ANMs are deputed in rural areas. They have to survey at least 1.26 lakh houses in Bhojpur district of which 3,500 houses in urban areas and 24,000 in rural areas have so far been surveyed. The Corona Warriors, after taking detailed information about members of a family, are also forwarding them to Ara Sadar Hospital if found suffering from cold, cough and fever. Teams of doctors are also visiting the areas which the survey teams have already visited.
Dr S K Sinha, Immunization Officer, Ara Sadar Hospital, said that some persons are also complaining about some other problems and doctors are advising them necessary medicine.
The Corona Warriors, on the condition of anonymity, said that they are working in the risk zone but have not been provided with masks, gloves, sanitisers and other safety kits while doctors are equipped with all these. They said that they had to purchase masks and sanitisers for themselves. Even the police personnel have not been provided with masks and sanitisers and were managing it on their own or are dependent on the NGOs involved in distributing masks and sanitisers.
Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar, however, said that police personnel have been provided with masks and at least 3,500 masks have so far been distributed among them.
Civil Surgeon, Bhojpur, L K Jha, said that all the Medical Officers Incharge of Primary Health Centres, Referral Hospitals, and Additional PHCs had been supplied plenty of gloves and masks and had been directed to supply them to the Corona Warriors. He said if any Corona Warriors is unable to get them, he should contact the medical officers Incharge of the area.
