Patna : Fifteen year old Anish Bhanwala, India, won gold medal in 25 m Rapid Fire Pistol at Gold Coast Commonwealh Games (CWG ) on April 13, 2018, with a score of 30. Anish has created history by becoming India’s youngest ever gold medal winner at the CWG. Australian Sergei Evglevski won silver. With this, India’s gold medal tally at the on going CWG increased to 16.
Born at Kashandi, Sonipat, in Haryana, on September 26, 2002, Anish lives at Karnal. He also competes in 25m Pistol and 25m Standard Pistol. He has no family background in sports. He has been part of Indian shooting team since 2017. He shifted to Delh in 2014 for better facilities to practice.
Earlier this week, Manu Bhaker, 16, India, had won gold medal in women’s 10m Air Rifle.
