New Delhi : New Covid-19 cases outpaced the recoveries again in last 24 hours in India. A total of 14,989 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,11,39,516 cases in the country at 8 am on March 3, 2021,  On the other hand, a total of 13,123 Covid-19 pagients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,08,12,044 on March 3, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases ( 1,70,126) by a massive margin of 1,06,41,918.

The active cases accounted for 1.53% of the total cases (1,11,39,516) in India on March 3, 2021, an increase of 1,768 cases in last 24 hours. Of the 1,11,39,516 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in the country, altogether 1,08,12,044 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.06%. India has tested 21,84,03,277 samples so far including 7,85,220 samples on March 2, 2021. Meanwhile, 1,56,20,749 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 7,68,730 beneficiaries on March 2, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,57,346 in India on March 3, 2021, with 98 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 54 from Maharashtra, 16 from Kerala, 10 from Punjab, 7 from Karnataka, 2 from West Bengal, 2 from Haryana, 2 from Chhattisgarh, 1 from Tamilnadu, 1 from Uttar Pradesh, and 1 from Gujarat. India had recorded 91 new deaths on March 2, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll in India on March 3, 2021, was : Maharashtra (52,238), Tamilnadu (12,502), Karnataka (12,343), Delhi (10,911), Andhra Pradesh (7,169), Uttar Pradesh (8,728), West Bengal (10,270), Gujarat (4,411), Madhya Pradesh (3,865), Rajasthan (2,787), Punjab (5,860), Telengana (1,635), J&K (1,958), Haryana (3,052), Bihar (1,541), Odisha (1,917), Jharkhand (1,090), Assam (1,093), Uttarakhand (1,692), Kerala (4,226), Chhattisgarh (3,844), Puducherry (669), Goa (796), Tripura (391), Chandigarh (354), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (996), Ladakh (130), Manipur (373), Nagaland (91), Meghalaya (148), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (135), Mizoram (10), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2), and Lakshadweep (1).
