Patna/ Muzaffarpur: Fourteen persons were killed and six injured in a head on collision between a private bus and an auto at Jhapaha village under Ahiyapur police station in Muzaffarpur district on Monday noon. The mishap took place at 5 km away from the district headquarters, Muzaffarpur.
Among the deceased are two women and three chilldren. The injured have been admitted to S  K Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur. Movement of vehicles  remained suspended for two hours as agitated local residents blocked the road demanding compensation of Rs ten lakh to the families of each of the deceased. The blockade was removed after the district magistrate and SP rushed to the spot and pacified the angry mob.

The accident took place on Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road near Jhapaha CRPF  camp. -According to  police  the three wheeler  was coming  from  Minapur  enroute Muzaffarpur  and the bus was going  to Sitamarhi   from  Muzaffarpur. The three -wheeler was broken into  pieces and  scattered  on the right side of the road. The locals   blocked the  Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road  for hours.  The CRPF personnel  rushed to the spot  after the accident  and  brought the injured to the  SKMCH.

According to  police sources  Umesh Ram, Vishal Kumar, Nitu Devi, Premshila Devi  were identified among the  deceased while the rest were  yet to be identified . The  state government has  announced  Rs 4 lakh compensation  to  the families of each  victim. DM  Dharmendra  Singh  and SSP  visited the  accident site and  medical college hospital .
