Sasaram : Fourteen bogies of a Goods Train derailed about 65 km west to Kaimur district and 3km before the Karmnasa railway station near village Kulharia at railway gate no 66 on Gaya -Mughalsarai rail section on Grand Chord in the morning on August 2, 2017, paralysing movement of  trains on the route. The route of several trains was changed. A number of trains remained  stranded at different railway stations causing a lot of problems to the passengers paricularly women and children.

The derailed bogies remained scattered on Up and Down rail tracks causing stoppage  of  trains at different railway stations. The railway administration diverted the route of several long distance trains. The route of several trains including Chambal Express, Howrah- Deharadoon Express, Howrah-Mumbai mail, Howrah- Jodhpur Express were changed. They are now running via Sasaram – Mughalsarai and also via Bikramganj-Ara to Mughalsarai.

The Sasaram Station Master said senior railway officers rushed to the spot and arrangements were  being made for the security and safety of the passengers.
