New Delhi : A total of 13,823 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,05,95,660 at 8 am on January 20, 2021. On the other hand, 16,988 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,02,45,741 on January 20, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases (1,97,201) by a whopping margin of 1,00,48,540. The active cases accounted for just 1.86% of the total cases (1,05,95,660) on January 20, 2021, a drop of 3,327 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,05,95,660 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in the country, altogether 1,02,45,741 patients have been discharged with the recovery rate being 96.7%. India has tested 18,85,66,947 samples so far including 7,64,120 samples on January 19, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,52,718 in India on January 20, 2021, with 162 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 50 in Maharashtra, 26 in Kerala, 11 in West Bengal, 10 in Chhattisgarh, 10 in Delhi, 9 in Tamilnadu, 7 in Punjab, 7 in Madhya Pradesh,  6 in Karnataka, 4 in Haryana, 4 in Uttar Pradesh, 3 in Jharkhand, 2 in Uttarakhand, 2 in Rajasthan, 2 in Gujarat, 1 in Andhra Pradesh, and 1 in Bihar. India had recorded 137 new deaths on January 19, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

COVID-19 death toll in India on  January 20, 2021, was : Maharashtra (50,523), Tamilnadu (12,281), Karnataka (12,181), Delhi (10,764), Andhra Pradesh (7,142), Uttar Pradesh (8,584), West Bengal (10,074), Gujarat (4,369), Madhya Pradesh (3,763), Rajasthan (2,752),  Punjab (5,516), Telengana (1,583), J&K (1,923), Haryana (2,993), Bihar (1,461), Odisha (1,902), Jharkhand (1,057), Assam (1,075), Uttarakhand (1,619), Kerala (3,506), Chhattisgarh (3,575), Puducherry (643), Goa (756), Tripura (391), Chandigarh (330), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (967), Ladakh (129), Manipur (367), Nagaland (88), Meghalaya (144), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (131), Mizoram (9), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2).
