New Delhi : Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 1,28,509 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY- Urban) with an investment of Rs 9,364  crore with central assistance of Rs 1,928  crore.

The approval was given at the 31st meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee held here on February 28, 2018. The projects where sanctioned across 184 cities in the states of Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Puducherry(UT). Haryana has been sanctioned 62,451 houses in 33 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.6,844 crore with central assistance of Rs 937 crore.

Uttar Pradesh got 36,056 houses in 95 cities and towns with an investment of Rs 1,287 crore and central assistance of Rs 541 crore. Chattisgarh has been sanctioned 28,029 affordable houses in 54 cities with an investment of Rs 1,151 crore and central assistance of Rs 420 crore.  Puducherry has been sanctioned 1,973 houses in 2 cities and towns with an investment of Rs 83 crore with central assistance of Rs.30 crore, according to a PIB release.
