New Delhi : Only 12,584 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,04,79,179 at 8 am on January 12, 2021. In sharp contrast, 18,385 patients were declared cured/discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,01,11,294 on January 12, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases (2,16,558)by a stupendous margin of 98,94,736. The active cases accounted for just 2,07% of the total cases (1,04,79,179) on January 12, 2021, a drop of 5,968 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,04,79,179 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,01,11,294 patients have been declared cured/discharged with the recovery rate being 96.49% on January 12, 2021. India has tested 18,26,52,887 samples so far including 8,97,056 samples on January 11, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,51,327 on January 12, 2021, with 167 new deaths being recorded in India in last 24 hours including 40 in Maharashtra, 20 in Kerala, 15 in Chhattisgarh, 13 in Delhi, 9 in Uttar Pradesh,7 in Madhya Pradesh, 6 in Haryana, 6 in Tamilnadu, 5 in Bihar, 5 in Uttarakhand, 4 in Karnataka, 3 in Gujarat, 2 in Punjab, 2 in Rajasthan, 2 in Andhra Pradesh, and 1 in Jharkhand. India had recorded 161 new deaths on January 11, 2021.
