New Delhi : Recoveries outpaced new Covid-19 cases recorded in last 24 hours by a small margin on 178 on March 2, 2021 , after a gap of six days. A total of 12,464 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/ discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,07,98,921 at 8 am on March 2, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases ( 1,68,358) by a whopping margin of 1,06,30,563. On the other hand, a total of 12,286 Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,11,24,527 cases in the country on March 2, 2021.

The active cases accounted for 1.51% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,11,24,527) on March 2, 2021, a drop of 269 cases in last 24 hours. Of the 1,11,24,527 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,07,98,921 patients have been declared cure with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.07%. Meanwhile, a total of 1,48,54,136 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 5,52,639 beneficiaries on March 1, 2021. India has tested 21,76,18,057 samples so far including 7,59,283 samples on March 1, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,57,248 in India on March 2, 2021, with 91 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 30 in Maharashtra, 18 in Punjab, 13 in Kerala, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 5 in Karnataka, 5 in Tamilnadu, 2 in Haryana, 2 in Uttar Pradesh, 1 in Delhi, 1 in Madhya Pradesh, and 1 in J&K. India had recorded 106 new deaths on March 1, 2021.
