Gopalganj: With the arrest of three persons including a woman on Friday, Gopalganj police claim to have busted a gang involved in supply of ganja from West Bengal to Bihar. Police seized a four-wheeler and found 107 kg Ganja inside the vehicle.

Talking to mediapersons, Gopalganj SP Ravi Ranjan Kumar said that the consignment from West Bengal was to be delivered at Kuchaikot. He said that a police team was constituted under the leadership of DSP (Hqs) Vibhash Kumar. Kumar said that the police team chased the smugglers and caught them with the help of the villagers near Kuchaikot. He said that the arrested persons had been identified as Manu Basu, a resident of village Takimari under Shikai police station in Cooch Behar district, Azmal alias Prabhu Choudhary, a native of Gomani village under Deen Halta PS, and Parita Sarkar, a native of Rajaram Jagadwar under Chitauli PS.

The arrested persons told the police that they had to deliver the consignment at Kuchaikot from where it was to be sent to other places across the state, the SP added. The police team included Town PS SHO Santosh Kumar, Jadopur PS SHO Rakesh Mohan and Kuchaikot PS SHO Mahendra Kumar.
