Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge VI, Ara,  Tribuwan Yadav, on March 16, 2018, sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment to Mukesh Sharma, his father and mother of village Khairi Tiwaridih under Agiaw Bazaar police station for killing Manti Devi and her 6 month old daughter for dowry. The ADJ also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each on all the three convicts.

Manti Devi, daughter of Baidyanath Sharma of village Kateya under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district, was married to Mukesh Sharma, son of Kamta Sharma of village Khairi Tiwaridih under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhojpur district on May 18, 2014, and ever since her in-laws were torturing her for a gold chain. When their demand was not fulfilled, they burnt her and her 6 month old daughter to death on March 16, 2017. A named FIR was lodged with Bihia police station against her husband Mukesh Sharma, father-in-law Kamta Sharma and mother-in-law Kamla Devi in this connection.

After hearing both the parties, the ADJ sentenced the three named accused to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment.
